Frequently asked questions

How do I let Heads Up see my meetings?

On first launch, Heads Up asks for Calendar access — choose Allow. If you missed it, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars and turn on Heads Up. Access is read-only; Heads Up never changes your calendar.

Which calendars does it work with?

Any calendar that appears in the macOS Calendar app — including iCloud, Google, Outlook, and Exchange accounts. Add those accounts in System Settings → Internet Accounts and Heads Up will see their events.

A meeting isn't showing up. Why?

Heads Up focuses on real meetings, so it skips events that are all-day, that you've declined, that are marked "free," or that run longer than four hours (offsites and travel blocks). If an event is timed and on your calendar, it will appear.

How do the reminders work?

By default you get a gentle card five minutes before, and a full-screen reminder the moment the meeting starts. You can change which reminders fire — 15, 10, 5, 2 minutes before, and at start — in Preferences → Reminders. Press Esc to dismiss any reminder.

Which meeting links can it open?

Heads Up detects Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Webex links, plus generic links, and opens them with one click on Join.

How do I make it launch automatically?

Open Preferences → General and turn on Launch when I log in.

Does it collect my data or use the internet?

No. Heads Up reads your calendar on your Mac to show your next meeting and nothing else — no account, no tracking, no data leaves your device. The only network activity is your browser opening a meeting link when you click Join. See our Privacy Policy.
